I cannot open / close my VELUX roof window

The window is operated by pulling the ventilation flap located at the top of the window. This ventilation flap can be positioned in two different positions. The first click allows for background ventilation, and second click allows you to open the sash.

Some centre-pivot windows are operated by use of the handle at the bottom sash (even though it has ventilation flap, this flap has 1 click only to allow for background ventilation).

The window is operated by turning the bottom handle to the vertical position, and pushing the sash outward. The sash should open easily by help of built-in springs. If the sash doesn't open, it might be the springs are not engaged.

Please ensure there are no obstacles between the sash and the frame, which may be limiting the rotation or closure of the sash fully. Please ensure that all metal fixtures on the window, including the lock mechanism located on the top of the sash, and the hinges located centrally at the side of the frame are adequately lubricated. It is advisable to firmly guide the ventilation bar with your hand using a swinging motion until it is fully closed. If the ventilation bar is stiff to close, we recommend applying grease to the metal headlock situated on the top of the window sash. 

Please ensure there are no obstacles between the sash and the frame, which may be limiting the rotation or closure of the sash fully. Please ensure that all metal fixtures on the window, including the lock mechanism located on the top of the sash, and the hinges located centrally at the side of the frame are adequately lubricated. If you have opened the window for the first time, and the sash feels in a locked open position, please apply a considerable force to compress the spring assist arms, and close the window. 

If your window is solar/electrically operated and you cannot open or close it, please ensure you are standing beside the window when trying to operate the window with the control. Ensure there are good quality, charged batteries within the control.
