Using VELUX Touch

Why is the display blinking frequently?

As the E Ink display technology used has a tendency not to clear all previously displayed text (ghosting), the screen blinks a few times to clear the display.

Why is the display buttons disappearing?

VELUX Touch has a built-in proximity sensor detecting movement in front of the device. In order to save battery power, the control switches from active mode to sleep mode after 15 seconds of no movement detection; the buttons then disappear. Triggering the sensor reactivates the control and the buttons reappear.

Why does the product not move when I have selected the position?

To operate a product, you must always start by selecting it in the gallery above the horizontal line (the icon must be marked black). If you cannot operate the product, you might not have selected it.

How do I control the products individually when I have created a group?

When you have created a group of products, the individual product representation is hidden. To gain access to the individual product operation, you must long press on the group icon to unfold the group contents.

How do I stop all product operation in an emergency situation?

If you long press the square stop button (at any page), you instantly request all products to stop any ongoing movement. The stop request is sent in prioritised order: Windows > Shutters > Awnings > Blinds.

How do I switch between rooms?

VELUX Touch is not intended to be used to control products across rooms. This is why you do not find a room selection option.
Hint: If you decide to control products in more rooms anyway, you can consider gathering them in blocks, for example: Room1 = 1+2; Room2 = 4+5+6; Room3 = 8+9 etc.

How often do I need to replace the batteries?

To save power, VELUX Touch automatically enters sleep mode after 15 seconds if no movement is detected in front of the device. The expected battery lifetime is 1 year (AAA, 1.5 V, non-rechargeable alkaline or zinc-carbon battery).

Note: The control pad should never be placed close to moving curtains or in an upright position on a flat surface as this will keep the display in idle mode and consequently drain the batteries quickly.

What is the optimal use of VELUX Touch?

The control pad can be operated either fixed on the wall or handheld. To ensure optimal conditions for the control pad, it should be placed within reach on the wall (90-170 cm above the ground) and not in direct sunlight nor close to/behind curtains..

Note: If the control pad is used in direct sunlight, the display has a tendency to fade quickly. This is not causing any permanent damage to the device, but a screen refreshment (blink sequence) is required to navigate the device again. Wave your hand in front of the display sensor, and leave the control pad for 15 seconds to allow for the display to refresh..
